Brazil's U.N. envoy said on Wednesday that she would vote against a Security Council resolution that would impose a fourth round of sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program.

Brazil's U.N. envoy said on Wednesday that she would vote against a Security Council resolution that would impose a fourth round of sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program.

Ambassador Maria Luiza Ribeiro Viotti told the 15-nation council that Brazil does "not see sanctions as an effective instrument in this case."

The council is about to vote on a sanctions resolution.
