Children as sound as seven are being tortured to death in Honduras for refusing to join criminal gangs.
Two brothers, aged 13 and 7, are among seven children believed to have been murdered in San Pedro Sula in the past month.
Battles between two major street gangs - Mara 18 and Mara Salvatrucha - have left tens of thousands of people dead over the years and Honduras with one of the highest murder rates in the world.
According to the BBC, attorney general Oscar Fernando Chinchilla will oversee the investigations into police claims that the gangs were behind the killings.
