EAGLES RISK UEFA ROUND
Besiktas soccer team, representing Turkey in the UEFA Europa League, were defeated by Dynamo Kyiv of Ukraine in Istanbul 1-4 in the first leg game in the round of 32 at the UEFA Europa League, and risked its chance to qualify. Vukojevic, Shevchenko, Yussuf and Gusev scored Ukrainian team's goals. Quaresma hit the only goal of the Eagles (Besiktas).

2011 TO BE YEAR OF MINES IN TURKEY
Underground resources will be offered to the use of investors. Reports prepared by the Directorate General of Mineral Research and Exploration are distributed to businessmen free of charge. Turkey is exploring mines all around the country.

WEAK COALITION GVTS TRIGGER 2001 CRISIS
Witnesses of the economic tremor Turkey experienced ten years ago told the Zaman daily about the crisis. Mehmet Yildirim, the former chairman of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), said he worked with nine governments and seven prime ministers. According to Yildirim, the problem was weak coalition governments. A baseless statement former prime minister Bulent Ecevit was urged to made indicated the weakness of that government. Yildirim said, "we asked the government to say that '11 billion USD will flow in Turkey' although there was not any agreement with the IMF just to reduce the tension of markets."

GREAT LOSS AT INONU STADIUM!
Turkey's only representative in Europe, Besiktas soccer team experienced a great agony at the Inonu Stadium. The Eagles were defeated by Ukraine's Dynamo Kyiv 1-4.

TUMOSAN ON DOORS OF EUROPE
Marketing Director Taylan Gurbuz of TUMOSAN company --which sold nearly 5,000 tractors it produced to Europe-- announced their targets: We plan to produce 10,000 tractors this year. EU's door was opened to us. We will increase our market share to 20 percent.

GAS EXPLOSION KILLS THREE
An explosion occurred in oil production facility due to gas entrapment in Kozluk town of the eastern province of Batman. Three people, who were working in the facility, were killed in the explosion. Fire department put out the fire.

TENSION ESCALATING
The government gave harsh reaction to criticism of the U.S. ambassador regarding "detentions and freedom of press." U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Francis J. Ricciardone, who took over the diplomatic mission in Turkey a month ago, said Turkish government was talking about freedom of press, however on the other side it was detaining journalists and he could not understand it.
Interior Minister Besir Atalay said Turkey was a country with a broader freedom of press when compared with the United States. "There is much more freedom of press in Turkey than other democratic countries in the world," Atalay said.
Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said Undersecretary Feridun Sinirlioglu met the U.S. ambassador. Davutoglu said, "there is an ongoing investigation. We do not find right an ambassador's making such a comment. Ambassadors should be careful about their remarks."

NUMBER OF MPs PROVINCES WILL ELECT CHANGED
The Constitutional Court annulled the regulation allowing small provinces to elect two lawmakers in general elections. From now on, the number of MPs provinces will elect will change according to their population. The regulation was overturned upon an appeal of the Republican People's Party (CHP) and the court decision will be implemented in the general elections due in June. Thus, Gumushane, Bayburt, Tunceli, Kilis and Ardahan will each send one lawmaker less to the parliament in this elections. However, the number of parliamentarians from Antalya, Bursa, Sanliurfa, Istanbul, Agri and Karaman will be up by one.

WE REALLY DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT IS GOING ON
U.S. Ambassador in Ankara Francis Ricciardone wanted his remarks "on the one hand there exists a stated policy of support for a free press. On the other hand, journalists are put under detention. We are trying to make sense of this" not to be connected with a specific case. He said, "Turkey is a complicated country. I have said 'we are trying to understand' because we really can't understand." On the other hand, U.S. State Department earlier said, "we don't hesitate to raise our voices if we believe an ally crosses the line regarding respect towards universal principles."

BESIKTAS COLLAPSE AT HOME
Ukraine's Dynamo Kyiv defeated Turkey's Besiktas soccer team 4-1 in the first leg game in the round of 32 at the UEFA Europa League in Istanbul. Thus, Besiktas' chance of qualifying has become a miracle now.

LATE INVOICE TO "JET FADIL"
People who lost their savings by investing in Jet-Pa can get their money back. Legal experts kept Fadil Akgunduz, nicknamed "Jet Fadil", responsible for the debt of the company that bankrupted in Europe. When experts have found out that the money collected in Europe was transferred to Turkey, there is no more an obstacle before paying back 230 million Euro to owners of that money.

ODA ACCUSED OF ERGENEKON BROADCASTING
Odatv team, detained on Monday, has been transferred to the prosecutor's office on Thursday. Four journalists, including Soner Yalcin, were asked for what reason they broadcast stories about Ergenekon, Bayloz, WikiLeaks documents and Egypt rebellion. The prosecutor's office released editor Ayhan Bozkurt.

DYNAMO HITS BESIKTAS: 4-1
Dynamo Kyiv of Ukraine defeated Besiktas soccer team of Turkey 4-1 in the first leg game in the round of 32 at the UEFA Europa League in Istanbul. Portuguese footballer Quaresma scored Bekistas' only goal in the game. This result faded Besiktas' hopes to qualify.

TAX PLAN FROM 2B SALE
The government decided not to sell plots that can no more be described as "forests" over current value, but to sell them over property tax. If Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan gives green light to the proposal, the bill will be passed in March. For instance, a plot, the square meter of which is 350 Turkish liras (TL), rises to 1,400 TL in current prices. Citizens have already paid for these plots, and they cannot give extra money. Therefore, property tax should be implemented in these cases.

On the other hand, journalists are put under detention. We are trying to make sense of this"--. Atalay said, "there is maximum freedom of press in Turkey with its newspapers, television channels and internet. Freedom of press is more in Turkey than it is in the United States."

A gas explosion occurred in natural gas production station, belonging to Turkish Petroleum Corp. (TPAO), in Kozluk town of the eastern province of Batman. Three workers were killed in the explosion.

Regarding his statements criticising the custodies and arrests within the scope of Ergenekon case, U.S. Ambassador in Ankara Francis Ricciardone said, "we don't understand what this case means because we are strangers. You can help us understand."
