BAYKAL DOES NOT MEET PROVINCIAL CHAIRMEN WHO SAID "KILICDAROGLU"
Kemal Kilicdaroglu, who has announced his candidacy for the chair of Republican People's Pary (CHP), got support from the party's 77 provincial chairmen in addition to the support he received from group deputy chairmen and most of the deputies.
The remaining 4 provincial chairmen were from Deniz Baykal's birthplace Antalya, Izmir, Agri and Samsun. Following their gathering in Ankara, the provincial chairmen wanted to pay a visit to Baykal, however, he rejected their demand.
MOST PAINFUL WAITING AT MINE
While efforts are underway to rescue the 30 workers trapped in a coal mine in the northwestern province of Zonguldak, families are still waiting for good news. Turkish Labor Minister Omer Dincer, who arrived at the scene of the explosion together with Energy Minister Taner Yildiz, is still hopeful. Noting that teams reached the cave area,Yildiz said there was no technical negligence in the accident.
HOPES IN THE WELL
Thirty mine workers, who were trapped in a 540-meter underground well after an explosion in the northwestern province of Zonguldak, could not be reached yesterday either. Relatives of the trapped workers are still keeping their hopes high. Turkish Energy & Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz arrived at the site yesterday and got information from officials.
WE WILL NOT SUPPORT SANCTIONS
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that the agreement on uranium swap met the demands. "We will not support the sanctions to be imposed despite the signatures," Davutoglu said.
CHP WITH GANDHI
According to the latest survey of A&G that is known for its accurate estimations on election results, Republican People's Party's (CHP) votes will increase by 14 points thanks to Kemal Kilicdaroglu.
In the light of the talks held with 3,600 people in 39 provinces, Adil Gur's company A&G said 65.8 percent of the participants chose Kilicdaroglu as a leader even before Kilicdaroglu announced his candidacy. Support for Baykal remained at 12.8 percent.
RUNNING OUT OF HOPES
The rescue team comprising of 400 people could not reach yesterday the 30 miners trapped at a depth of 540 meters under ground level in the northwestern province of Zonguldak. People are concerned now, rather than hopeful.
FIRST STEP TO LEADERSHIP
Kemal Kilicdaroglu, who announced his candidacy to become the new chairman of the Republican People's Party (CHP), will go to convention with the joint signatures of 77 provincial chairmen.
Chairmen of only Antalya, Agri, Izmir and Samsun said they want Deniz Baykal back during the meeting of provincial chairmen.
Kilicdaroglu is expected to be the only candidate in the convention.
Deniz Baykal sent a message to the meeting and wanted support for the formation of the new administration that would support CHP's unity.
Baykal said he did not think of being a candidate.
ERDOGAN: WE DID WHAT WAS WANTED FROM US
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said uranium swap formula on which they agreed with Iran was proposed by the United States and permanent members of the UN Security Council.
Reacting to the efforts to impose sanctions on Iran, Erdogan referred to 5 1 countries and said, "all of you have nuclear weapons. Iran will be alone if it fails to do what it has to."
BITTER SILENCE IN THE MINE
Teams continued works till late hours to rescue 30 miners who were trapped under 540 meters depth. Rescue teams who came across with two collapsed areas could not reach the trapped miners.
Labor Minister Omer Dincer said 400-people rescue team exerted all efforts.
KILICDAROGLU: PEOPLE WILL COME FOREFRONT FROM NOW ON
Kemal Kilicdaroglu, getting ready to assume chairmanship of the Republican People's Party (CHP) on May 22, said, "the most important problems are unemployment and poverty" and noted, "we will from now on use the word 'people' in the name of Republican People's Party".
ORGANIZATION: DO NOT COME BACK
While Republican People Party's (CHP) administration asked former chairman Deniz Baykal to return to his post the other day, CHP's 77 provincial chairmen released yesterday a message saying "Do not come back" to Baykal.
Apart from the heads of provincial organizations in Antalya, Izmir, Agri and Samsun, all the provincial chairmen said during their gathering in Ankara that they supported Kemal Kilicdaroglu's candidacy.
KILICDAROGLU: I AM HAPPY
Commenting on the statement of his party's provincial chairmen, Kemal Kilicdaroglu said he was quite happy with such reaction. "It seems like a wide agreement has been achieved. Our chairperson was also willing for a compromise," Kilicdaroglu said.

According to the latest survey of Adil Gur, who is known for his prophetic political polls, votes of Republican People's Party (CHP) would rise above 32 percent under the leadership of Kemal Kilicdaroglu.
Gur's company A&G held talks with 3,603 people in 39 provinces. Nearly 32.3 percent of the participants said that they would vote for CHP if Kilicdaroglu became the party's chairperson. MOreover, almost 70.4 percent of the participants said that they did not want Deniz Baykal to return to his post.
HOPES GET CAUGHT BY COLLAPSED AREA
Rescue teams racing against time 540 meters under the ground came across with new caved areas when they were about to reach 30 miners trapped in the coal mine.
The rescue teams carried out fortification works till morning against risk of collapse.
Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said, "hopes decrease as time passes".
