Turkish dailies on Monday covered the hooligan terror in a wheelchair basketball match, former president Ozal's son's concerns on poisoning report, and the report revealing regional income gaps in Turkey. The Anadolu Agency does not verify these stories and does not vouch for their accuracy.
Most dailies covered the hooligan terror during the Galatasaray-Besiktas wheelchair basketball match. Daily SABAH said upon the inappropriate acts of hooligans, some of the wheelchairs got broken and police responded with tear gas. The game was postponed.
Some of the dailies covered the statements of late president Turgut Ozal's son, Ahmet Ozal. He expressed concerns that the report, giving facts about the poisonous substances found in his father's body, might be distorted. He said the deep state was responsible. Daily BUGUN quoted him saying there was "a big pressure on the state" regarding the issue.
Some of the dailies also covered the Turkonfed report, showing the regional income gap in Turkey. According to the report, 14 provinces of Turkey have the economies equal to prominent world cities while 27 live in poverty, and 40 were at risk of falling in the middle income trap.
