Turkish dailies on Wednesday covered NATO chief Rasmussen's vows, Erdogan's statement regarding Diyarbakir Police Chief Recep Guven's speech over terrorists and Turkey's growth rate figures released on Tuesday. The Anadolu Agency does not verify these stories and does not vouch for their accuracy.
All Turkish dailies covered on their Wednesday editions the NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen's statement saying "NATO is ready to defend alliance member Turkey amid artillery exchanges along its southeastern border with Syria." Daily MILLIYET headlined "Our plans are ready" and quoted Rasmussen as saying, "We will give our support to Turkey when needed."
Another topic which was covered by most of the Turkish dailies and what daily TURKIYE published was Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's speech regarding Diyarbakir Police Chief Recep Guven's words saying, "You are not a human being if you do not feel sorrow about a terrorist who died in the mountain." Turkish pm said, "We do not cry for terrorists who die while killing our children," daily TURKIYE quoted.
Lastly, Turkish dailies covered Turkey's growth rate which is expected to be 3.2 percent in 2012. Daily ZAMAN quoted Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan as saying that according to the program, the year-end inflation target was 7.4 percent and they expected the year-end current account deficit to drop to 7.3 percent and it would decrease to 6.5 percent by the end of 2015.
