TURKISH PRESS REVIEW ON OCT 9

Turkish dailies on Tuesday covered Turkish president's statement about situation in Syria and Brazilian football player Alex's press conference. The Anadolu Agency does not verify these stories and does not vouch for their accuracy.

All Turkish dailies covered Turkish President Abdullah Gul's speech which referred to the artillery attack of Syria. Daily MILLIYET headlined "Worst case of scenario unfolded" and quoted Gul saying as, "It cannot continue in this way. And I think the international community must assume a very active position." Moreover, daily TURKIYE published that schools in Akcakale border town still remain closed. They were supposed to start teaching on Monday however it has been extended as mortar shells keep falling onto Turkish town.

Another topic which was covered by most of the Turkish dailies was the press conference of Brazilian football player Alex de Souza whose contract with Fenerbahce soccer club was terminated 8 days ago. Alex detailed his fallout with Fenerbahce and the problems he went through to journalists on Monday's conference. Daily YENI SAFAK headlined midfielder Alex as saying, "I have never cried this much" and quoted him saying as, "The reaction of Fenerbahce fans made me cry. I am 35 years old and I have never cried this much before."
