At least 77 people were killed in a military plane crash in eastern Algeria on Tuesday, the Defense Ministry said.
In a statement, the ministry said that one person had survived the crash, which occurred in the eastern province of Oum El Bouaghi.
According to the ministry, some 78 people, including four crew members, were aboard the plane when it crashed.
Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on Tuesday declared a three-day mourning period to honor the victims of a military plane crash.
In a statement, the ministry said the incident "may have been caused by bad weather conditions and falling snow."
