It's not so easy to establish a separate state in Syria coming from the Mount Qandil, the founder of the Free Syrian Army told Yeni Şafak on Wednesday.

General Riyad Assad, founder commander of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in Syria, said the Democratic Union Party (PYD) was more dangerous than ISIL, adding that ISIL was a temporary fraction in the area.

“We see PYD as a cause of permanent devastation which brings long term crisis to the region," he said.

Riyad Assad said the existence PYD and ISIL violence was connected with the continuation of theAssad regime and added that extremism in Syria would be vanished if Assad left power.

PYD, the Syrian branch of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) extremist group led by a so-called administration in Mount Qandil area of northern Iraq, has been accused of ethnic cleansing in northern Syria since the devastating civil war in 2010.

PYD and its armed wing People Protection Unit (YPG) aimed to establish a separate Kurdish state in northern Syria but it would not be possible, Riyad Assad said.

He said the group was spreading hatred among Turkmens, Arabs, Nusayris and Kurds living in the area.

“To stablish an autonomous region would not be possible in Syrian soil," Assad stated.

The group, claiming to defend Kurds, both supported by the U.S. military and regime forces had killed hundreds of Arabs, Turkmens and even Kurds who opposed their Marxist-Socialist strategy.

U.S. administration backed PYD although it listed PKK as a extrem group.

“U.S. is equally responsible as Assad, Russia and Iran for killing hundreds of thousands of civilians in Syria," the FSA commander said.

He stated that PYD was a plan of U.S. and Europe to sabotaged Syrian people's resistance especially the Free Syrian Army.
