Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in Egypt on Wednesday for talks on the latest Palestinian developments.
Abbas will discuss with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi developments in the Palestinian territories and crises facing the umbrella Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), a diplomatic source told Anadolu Agency.
Abbas will also brief the Egyptian leader on his intention not to seek office in the coming Palestinian presidential election, the source added.
According to Palestinian diplomatic sources, Abbas, 80, will not contest the coming election due to health reasons.
Talks between Israeli and Palestinian negotiators ground to a halt one year ago over the self-proclaimed Jewish state’s refusal to release a group of Palestinian prisoners despite earlier promises to do so.Güncelleme Tarihi: 10 Eylül 2015, 13:44
