A team of Palestinian researchers have revealed that around 391 Palestinians are currently being held captive in Syria by both regime and opposition forces.
According to the Working Group for Palestinians in Syria, 355 Palestinians are being held hostage by the Syrian regime while 36 are being held by rebel groups in prisons.
Calling on regime and opposition representatives in Geneva to release the prisoners, which include a number of journalists, relief workers and doctors, the group gave the example of Dr Hayel Hameed who was kidnapped in his clinic on 11 August, 2012.
