At least 71 Palestinians were killed and 150 others injured on Sunday in Israeli attacks on different parts of the blockaded Gaza Strip, according to a Palestinian health official.

"This brings to 1830 the total number of Palestinians killed since the beginning of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip on July 7," Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qodra told Anadolu Agency.

"Around 9370 Palestinians have also been injured in Israeli attacks during the same period," he said.

Al-Qodra added that rescue teams were still looking for victims who might be buried under the rubble in the southern parts of the Gaza Strip.

Majority of Israeli army unit leave Gaza: Paper

Majority of Israeli ground forces withdrew from the Gaza Strip on Sunday, Israeli media reported with the military saying it nearly completed destroying Hamas tunnels into Israeli territory.

According to Haaretz, the Israeli army withdrew most of its troops from Gaza's battle zones, although no official order has been issued to end the operation.

An Israeli military official, who asked not be named, told Anadolu Agency that the redeployment should not be considered as withdrawal, but rather as "reorganization" of the troops.

Israel has been pounding the Gaza Strip since July 7, killing mostly civilians: children, women and elderly people, according to the U.N. as well as Palestinian health officials.

Gaza-based resistance factions, meanwhile, have continued to fire rocket at Israeli cities in response to relentless Israeli bombardments.

The reports of the withdrawal came after a relative decline in the number of rocket launches on Israel, the newspaper added.

Quoting an unnamed official, Haaretz said that the army has decided to keep some forces within Gaza to protect Israeli communities near the border.

“A security zone within the enclave should be maintained for defense purposes, and we are prepared to attack as well,” the official added.

Israel's "Operation Protective Edge" is the deadliest in three Israeli military offensives on the embattled Gaza Strip - home to some 1.8 million Palestinians – within the past six years.

The Palestinian death toll from the current offensive alone has surpassed the combined total fatalities from two past major operations, including the 2008/9 operation "Cast Lead" which killed at least 1500 Palestinians in three weeks.

According to Israeli figures, at least 64 soldiers have been killed in battles with Palestinian fighters in Gaza, making up the highest Israeli military fatality toll in the three assaults. Three Israelis have also been killed by rocket fire from Gaza.
