The death toll from Friday's clashes between the Yemeni army and Shiite Houthi militants in the northern Al-Jawf province rose to seven, a security official said.
The violence accompanied a rally staged by Houthi demonstrators to demand that the government step down.
According to eyewitnesses, protesters provoked soldiers manning a nearby checkpoint, triggering clashes.
Al-Jawf security chief Mohamed al-Adeeni told Anadolu Agency that a military officer and soldier were killed and as many troops were injured.
