An Egyptian army soldierwas killed Sunday in an attack by unknown gunmen on a security post in the North Sinai capital city of Arish, security and medical sources told the Anadolu Agency.
The attack targeted a joint police and army checkpoint, security sources said, adding that the attackers were able to flee the scene.
In a separate incident, gunmen attacked a firefighting post, wounding one soldier seriously, security sources and eyewitnesses said.
No group has claimed responsibility for either attack.
On Friday, five police and army personnel were killed in separate attacks by unidentified gunmen in Sinai.
