Egyptians living outside of Egypt have shown a lack of enthusiasm towards the constitutional referendum, for which expatriates began voting yesterday.
The first day showed a low turnout, after numerous campaigns by Egyptians living abroad to boycott the referendum, calling the current interim government, which came to power after elected president Mohamed Morsi was ousted in a military coup on July 3, illegitimate.
The referendum on the amendments to the publicly accepted 2012 constitution by a committee of 50 post-coup representatives will be open for Egyptian expatriates until January 12.
In Jordan, only 100 Egyptians out of 4,300 authorized to vote actually participated on the first day.Güncelleme Tarihi: 10 Ocak 2014, 16:39
