Defense Minister Abdel-Fatah al-Sisi arrived in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday evening to follow up on bilateral war exercises, according to army spokesman Ahmed Ali.
Al-Sisi is heading up a delegation of top army generals to "oversee the final stages" of an Egyptian-Emirati war exercise dubbed "Zayed One," Ali said on Facebook.
Ali added that, upon his arrival, al-Sisi had been received by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, who is also deputy supreme commander of the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Al-Sisi is widely seen as the chief architect of last July's ouster of Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi following mass demonstrations against the latter's single-year rule.
The UAE had been among the first Arab states to financially and diplomatically support Egypt's army-backed interim government following Morsi's ouster.
