Iran said on Sunday that it successfully reconstructed a U.S. stealth drone it captured in 2011 and the copy would soon take test flights.
The RQ-170 Sentinel was commandeered by Iran in December 2011 while apparently on a spying mission over Iran's nuclear sites.
The Iranian-made copy was unveiled on Sunday in an exhibition organized by the country’s Revolutionary Guards air wing, according to Iran's Fars News Agency.
Inspecting the aircraft, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said the captured drone was very important for reconnaissance missions, the agency said.
At the time, Iran claimed that it managed to take down the drone by electronically disrupting its system, whereas the U.S. said it was downed due to a technical problem.Güncelleme Tarihi: 13 Mayıs 2014, 10:16
