Iraq: Separate attacks kill five, injure 16

World Bulletin / News Desk

At least five people, including two police officers, were killed and 16 others wounded in four separate attacks in Iraq late Wednesday, police sources said.

According to sources, the two police officers were killed and two others were injured when a roadside bomb was detonated in the town of Ridhwaniya, south-west of the capital Baghdad.

One man died and four soldiers were injured after a hand-made bomb exploded in a taxi in Baghdad’s Al-Wahda neighborhood.

In a separate attack in the Al-Doura region, one civilian was killed and five others wounded during a bomb attack.

Another bomb attack claimed the life of one civilian and injured five others in the En-Nasr region.

Iraq, especially Baghdad, has been wracked by almost daily violence since June of last year, when ISIL overran the northern city of Mosul -- the country’s second largest city -- before capturing additional territory in both Iraq and Syria.
