Iraqi Vice President Usama al-Nujayfi has dismissed claims made about him in a WikiLeaks scandal that mentions him in official documents as receiving $575 million from top Saudi Arabian officials.
In a statement released from the office of al-Nujayfi Wednesday, the Iraqi vice-president termed the claims a “nonsensical joke” made by “products of a sick mindset”.
Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari said that the leaked documents that questioned the reputation of some Iraqi politicians had no legal standing. "We should not accept the correctness of any unproven document in a legal way," al-Jaafari said.
About the alleged contacts of some Iraqi Sunni politicians with Saudi officials, the foreign minister said: "Anyone whose fault and robbery is proved legitimately should be fairly punished".
"[However,] it is impossible to believe any of these published documents," he added.
Approximately 60,000 documents – leaked by the WikiLeaks website - have been published online. The documents, dubbed online as "Saudi Leaks", claim that Saudi Arabia is supporting several Iraqi politicians and providing them with funds. WikiLeaks, says that 500,000 more documents will be published in the coming days.Güncelleme Tarihi: 25 Haziran 2015, 10:54
