The ISIL group claimed responsibility for a Thursday truck bombing in the area of northern Baghdad that officials said killed at least 76 people.
The group said in an online statement that it carried out the "blessed operation" in Sadr City, which devastated a major wholesale vegetable market.
The truck bomb attack at a crowded marketplace in the Baghdad district of Sadr City which killed at least 76 people and wounded more than 200 others.
A truck loaded with explosives went off inside a busy food market in Sadr neighborhood, a police source said.
The source said scores of people were at the market when the explosion happened and the death toll is expected to rise since many of the injured are in “critical condition.”
