Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday revealed that his country had purchased four warships from Germany.

"Today, I am pleased to announce that three days ago we added an important component to our defensive force," Netanyahu said during a graduation ceremony for Israeli Air Force members.

"We purchased four new Sa’ar vessels, this is in addition to the submarines that are being built for the navy," he was quoted by Israel Radio as adding.

He said the state of Israel was building its defense force year by year, from decade to decade, with planes, submarine, air defense systems like the Iron Dome and the Arrow missile, and with some of the most sophisticated offensive weapons in the world.
