Israeli forces detained 15 Palestinians in raids in the West Bank and East Jerusalem on Thursday, a Palestinian NGO has said.

The Palestinian Prisoners Society said in a statement that Israeli forces had detained eight Palestinians in Hebron after raiding their homes to search for weapons.

Three more Palestinians were arrested in Shweiki village near Tulkarm and four others in Issawiya neighborhood in East Jerusalem, the NGO said.

The Israeli army earlier Thursday said that its forces had detained 12 Palestinians, including four Hamas members, in the West Bank.

Israeli forces routinely conduct detention campaigns against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank on claims that they are "wanted" by Israeli authorities.

Over 7,000 Palestinians are currently languishing in prisons throughout Israel, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Prisoners' Affairs.
