Israel is currently holding 19 female Palestinians in jail, including a minor, over a raft of security-related charges, the Palestinian Ministry of Prisoners' Affairs said Sunday.
The female prisoners, all held in Hasharon prison, are reeling under deteriorating living conditions in their jail, which worsened since the start of an Israeli offensive against the Gaza Strip last month, the ministry said in a statement.
Most of the Palestinian female prisoners were denied the right to receive visitors, the statement noted.
According to the Palestinian Prisoners Society, Israel is holding 19 female Palestinians, the oldest of whom is Lina al-Jarbouni who has been serving a 17-year jail term since 2002.
The list also include 16-year-old minor Dima Sawahreh from Jerusalem.
In total, around 5700 Palestinians – including 200 in administrative detention – continue to languish in jails throughout Israel, according to the Palestinian figures.
