Israel strikes two Syrian military positions, truck

World Bulletin / News Desk

Israel on Sunday struck two Syrian artillery positions and an ammunition truck, the Israeli army said.

On its official Twitter account, Israel Defense Forces, or IDF, said several projectiles fired from Syria landed in northern Golan Heights.

In retaliation, the IDF said it "targeted 2 Syrian regime artillery positions & an ammunitions truck".

No injuries were reported, it added.

On Saturday, Israeli jets hit several other targets in Syria, allegedly in response to rocket attacks from the war-torn country.

Saturday's so-called retaliatory strikes targeted Syrian positions north of Golan Heights where rockets were allegedly fired from on Israeli territories.

"An official protest has been sent to the United Nations Peacekeeping Forces as the Israeli sovereignty was violated in an unacceptable way," the army said Saturday.

Israel has occupied most of Syria’s Golan Heights since the 1967 Arab-Israeli war.
