Israeli artillery fired 40 shells at southern Lebanon late Monday following a rocket fire from the area, a Lebanese security source has said.
"Two of the artillery shells landed near a Lebanese army post," the source told Anadolu Agency, requesting anonymity.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
Israeli artillery shelled the town of al-Bataysha in southern Lebanon late Saturday following a similar rocket attack.
Last month, unidentified people fired eight rockets at Israel from southern Lebanon, prompting Israeli retaliatory attacks.
Tension has been high in the region over a deadly Israeli offensive against the blockaded the Gaza Strip, which killed at least 2133 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed and 10,895 others injured since July 7.
