A Jewish synagogue was set ablaze in Jerusalem (occupied East Jerusalem) on Friday.

No casualties were reported.

Israeli police spokeswoman Luba Samri said that an unidentified man set the synagogue on fire and fled the scene.

The fire was swiftly extinguished by Jewish worshippers, the spokeswoman said.

The blaze caused minor damage to the synagogue.
