Jordanian King Abdullah II on Monday set out for the Vatican, the first stop of a European tour that will also take him to Austria and Russia.
The Jordanian monarch will hold talks with Roman Catholic Pope Francis, at which they are expected to discuss bilateral relations, regional developments, and means of bolstering Islamic-Christian dialogue, Jordan's state-run Petra news agency reported.
In Vienna on Tuesday, the king will hold talks with Austrian President Heinz Fischer and senior government officials, with whom he is expected to discuss recent developments in the Middle East, especially the ongoing Syria crisis.
