U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will meet with his Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif for a fresh round of nuclear talks in the Swiss city of Lausanne on Sunday in an effort to meet a deadline for a political framework agreement by the end of the month.
"The deadline is approaching... I can’t tell you whether or not we can get a deal or whether we're close," Kerry said on Saturday in Egypt.
"We've made some progress, but there are still gaps, important gaps, and important choices that need to be made by Iran in order to be able to move forward," he added.
Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council -- the U.S., UK, China, France and Russia -- plus Germany, also known as the P5+1 group, will resume talks over Tehran's nuclear program from Sunday.
