The Islamist political parties backing Egyptian president Muhammad Mursi have announced the roadmap which they will follow in the case of an attempt to overthrow the democratically elected president through a military coup.
The leaders of the Egyptian Islamist political movements, after meeting five times over the last few hours, have decided to resist a potential military coup. They have announced that in the case of such a coup, they intend to conduct an Islamic revolution in solidarity with the people on the street,
Leader of the Freedom and Justice party group Jamal Shahad said, “we are ready to shed our blood in order to secure the rule of law in the period ahead of us,” indicating that supportive youths were waiting for an opportunity to defend the president whom they elected.
Spokesman for the Samidun movement Hazim Hatir emphasized that they would not accept a military coup, explaining that they would resist it with the strength gathered from the streets and that they would defend themselves within the framework provided by Islam.
Hatir suggested that an Islamic revolution was the only solution in the case of a coup scenario.
He added that Defense Minister General El-Sisi was to blame for mobilizing violence by issuing a military ultimatum.
As representatives of other movements, al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya spokesman Abdulqadir Abdulfettah and Islamic Party leader Ali Ferraj noted that they share that conviction.
They declared that Mursi was voted in through the ballot, and could only be forced to leave through the ballot.Güncelleme Tarihi: 03 Temmuz 2013, 15:13
