Syrian opposition welcomed Thursday the United Nations Security Council's urgent appeal for immediate access to all areas of Syria to deliver humanitarian aid to millions of civilians enduring the civil war.
In a statement, National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces called on UNSC to take "immediate and practical" decisions to provide the aid into Syria.
"Committees sent by the UN have proved that the real reason of the disaster is the Syrian regime, who does not allow the access of the humanitarian aid. After this, the regime should be forced to open access to all areas of the country and needs should be met as soon as possible," the statement said.
The UN Security Council adopted a presidential statement addressing what it described as "the significant and rapid deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Syria" five days after unanimously approving its first legally binding action since violence erupted in Syria — a resolution ordering the elimination of its chemical weapons.
Since the uprising started in 2011, more than 100,000 people were killed, more than 2 million people mostly women and children fled home.
Millions more inside Syria are still in need of help.Güncelleme Tarihi: 03 Ekim 2013, 21:53
