A Palestinian woman on Monday stabbed an Israeli soldier at a checkpoint south of occupied East Jerusalem near the city of Bethlehem, an Israeli police official has said.

“The female soldier was stabbed in the neck and is being taken to Ein Karem Hospital in moderate condition,” Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said in a statement.

The attacker, he added, was a 20-year-old Palestinian female, who, he said, hailed from the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

“She was arrested at the scene and was found to have two other knives on her person,” Rosenfeld asserted.

No Palestinian resistance groups have claimed responsibility for Monday’s knife attack.
