Armed forces who support Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi have assumed control over "most" of Aden's airport amid ongoing clashes with Houthi fighters, according to vigilante sources.

"[Pro-Hadi] vigilantes are now in control of most of Aden airport facilities following clashes with Houthi militants," the source, requesting anonymity, told The Anadolu Agency on Friday.

According to the source, ten Houthi fighters were killed and two fighters injured in the clashes.

"Houthi fighters and allied forces are now holed up in some of the airport buildings and the control tower," the source added.

Yemen has been rocked by turmoil since the Houthis overran capital Sanaa last September, from which they have since advanced on other provinces.

Since March 25, Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies have been striking Houthi positions across Yemen.

Saudi Arabia says its anti-Houthi air campaign is in response to appeals by Hadi – who is currently in Riyadh – for help against the Houthi.

The Houthis, for their part, denounce the ongoing offensive as unwarranted "Saudi-American aggression" against Yemen.
