Saudi Arabia has approached Russian atomic energy firm Rosatom for talks over a proposed nuclear power plant.

Saudi Arabian officials have declared their wish to work with Russia in building a nuclear power plant in the kingdom.

The head of Russian atomic energy firmRosatom, Sergey Kiriyenko, told Interfax that Rosatom was interested in the offer, but talks were still in their early stages.

Saudi Arabia currently does not have a nuclear power station, but has increased its interest in nuclear power as of late, drawing up a number of plans to develop atomic energy.
