Iraqi police used force to prevent people on Friday from holding a rally in Baghdad's Tahrir Square in protest of security weakness and recent bloody attacks.
The Iraqi security forces hindered the people trying to get to the demonstration area, hugging all the roads to the square, as witnesses told Anadolu Agency.
Earlier on Friday, a group of journalists wanted to reach Tahrir Square to follow the protest to be held for improving security standards in the state and were detained by Iraqi security officials.
The detained journalists, whose cameras and video cameras were also confiscated, have not yet been released, sources said.
The mass protests planned for Friday aimed to voice the demands of the Iraqi people such as improvement of security in the country, effective counter-terrorism efforts, an urgent halt to the ongoing bloodshed and an end to the violations of human rights.Güncelleme Tarihi: 02 Ağustos 2013, 16:47
