Syira's United Nations Ambassador Bashar Jaafari on Monday invited top UN chemical weapons inspector Ake Sellstrom and UN disarmament chief Angela Kane to Damascus to investigate the claims of chemical weapons use in Aleppo.

Jafari asked for an investigation of the alleged chemical weapons use in Khan al-Assal region in the province of Aleppo, blaming the Syrian Opposition for using chemical weapons in the region.

Jafari said the Syrian government did not agree on the investigations of claims raised by those other than the Syrian regime.

Asked if the Syrian government would let the inspectors to go beyond Aleppo, he said "No, you wouldn't jump to this conclusion."

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said he was pleased with the Syrian government's decision to hold talks on investigating chemical weapons.

But he urged Syria to allow investigations of all allegations of chemical weapons use in Syria.
