Turkish non-governmental organizations (NGO) continue to attend to the needs of Syrian civil war victims, who struggle alone in the month of Ramadan for survival in the face of massacre and bombardments by the Assad regime.
NGOs, striving to deliver donations to needy people in Syria, urged every one to be more sensitive about the tragedy in Syria.
Chairman of the Foundation for Human Rights and Freedoms and Humanitarian Relief (IHH) Bulent Yildirim stating that public opinion overlooked the situation in Syria and said, "the Syrian tragedy has become ordinary and people take the situation ideologically. The number of people killed in Syria, the number of women and children who died and the number of women and girls who have been raped are more than in the Bosnian War. However, public opinion continues to remain insensitive because of certain reasons."
Yildirim also pointed out that they did not know whether the aid reached the needy or not.
He added, "All the risks must be taken and all calculations should be made to help a severed armed child or a mother who lost her children."
Chairman of Kimse Yok Mu Association, Turkish non-governmental organization, Celal Turkoglu said Syrians had difficulty even in accessing basic foodstuff and urged international community to share the pain of Syrians.
He said "International community has forgotten Syrians. This humanitarian crisis needs to be made public. People cannot find iftar meal, they have to eat dry bread at suhoor, there is a tragedy. We need to feel the pain."
Turkoglu also said they carried out a variety of activities to help Syrians and provided hot food and housing to more than 70,000 people.
Mehmet Cengiz, Chairman of Deniz Feneri Association, said those who suffered most were the children, women, elders and people with disabilities.
"The benefactors hesitate to act because of the political events in the country as well as the previous Syria-Turkey relations. We request Turkish people to help those people intensely."Güncelleme Tarihi: 19 Temmuz 2013, 10:04
