Chief Editor of weekly Al Hurra (Freedom) newspaper Khalid Hatib said, "We could not express our ideas freely in our country for 40 years. Therefore we decided to publish a newspaper to inform the public on realities. Several cities in Syria lack Internet connection so newspapers are the only means for those living those cities to get information."
Emphasizing that Al Hurra was the first newspaper published by the Syrian opposition, Hatib said they distribute it in and around Aleppo.
Hatib also said they could not publish the newspaper regularly because of financial shortcomings, adding their budget depended on donations.
