At least 48 people, including three children and three women, were killed on Thursday in air and ground operations across Syria allegedly carried out by President Bashar al-Assad's regime, opposition activists claimed.

17 people were killed in the suburbs of Damascus, 11 in Aleppo, eight in Deir ez-Zor, five in Homs, four in Idlib, two in Daraa and one in Hama, the London-based Syrian Network for Human Rights said.

According to SMART News Agency, Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants organized car bomb attacks on Thursday in the city of Ras al-Ayn and killed many civilians.

Meanwhile, Syrian security forces "neutralized" a large number of armed groups during operations nation-wide according to the Syrian government's official SANA news agency.
