Syria's Islamic Front on Wednesday denied recent statements by Egyptian Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim that the group was training militants to launch attacks in Egypt.

"Our battle is only against the criminal regime of Bashar al-Assad," the front, a coalition of fighter movements and factions, said in a statement.

The front described as "incorrect" statements made by the Egyptian interior minister that the front members were being trained to launch attacks against Egypt.

Formed in November, the Islamic Front is the largest coalition of the movements and factions battling Assad's regime in Syria.

Egypt has been rocked by growing violence since the ouster by the army of elected president Mohamed Morsi last July.
