Following the murder of Tunisian politician Mohamed Brahmi on Thursday morning, 29 left-wing liberal parties and organisations came together to form the 'National Liberation Council' (NLC).
Various opposition parties and non-governmental organisations are included in the new entity, said the council in a statement.
Calling on the people for a general strike and civil disobedience, the NLC explained their aim to be the termination of the existing government, preparation of a new constitution, and to form the government which will be responsible to hold the elections in the country.
The council blamed the tripartite coalition, known as the 'Troika', which is currently holding power in the country for the violent attacks including the deaths of Tunisian opposition leaders Chokri Belaid and Mohamed Brahmi.
After the recent death of Brahmi outside his home in the capital Tunis, the Tunisian General Labour Union called for a general strike in the country.Güncelleme Tarihi: 26 Temmuz 2013, 16:13
