Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki, Prime Minister Ali Laarayedh and Parliament Speaker Mustafa Ben Jaafar will most likely not attend Tuesday's celebrations to mark the third anniversary of a popular revolution that ousted Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali.

"Laarayedh and Jaafar will not attend the official celebration of the revolution anniversary in Sidi Bouzid," a well-placed source told Anadolu Agency on Monday.

According to the source, President Marzouki's participation has not yet been confirmed, though he expected to skip the ceremony.

The sources linked such absence to the political developments in Tunisia, the Arab Spring birthplace, and efforts to form a caretaker government.

Last year, disgruntled protesters forced Marzouki, Laarayedh and Ben Gaafar to leave the anniversary celebrations held in Sidi Bouzid, the epicenter of the popular protests that led to the overthrow of Ben Ali in early 2011.
