Tunisia’s transitional parliament will have a recess, said Tunisian Parliament Speaker and head of the Constituent Assembly Mustafa bin Jafar Wednesday.
The parliament will be frozen until the dialogue between political parties restart, he said speaking on a state TV channel.
"As part of my responsibilities, I announce my decision on pausing the parliament work till dialogue has started again," Jafar said.
He called on the ruling coalition government and all the political parties to come to the table for dialogue in order to end crisis in the country and said, "Tunisian people have been bored of politics and politicians, and they ask for a clear picture of the country's future."
Following the death of Tunisian politician Mohamed Brahmi, who was shot dead outside his home after the death of Chokri Belaid 5 months earlier, anti-government protests have been going on in Tunisia and demonstrators ask for the abolition of the parliament as well as the resignation of the government.Güncelleme Tarihi: 07 Ağustos 2013, 13:26
