Two military officials were killed in two separate attacks in the eastern Libyan city of Darnah on Monday, a local official told Anadolu Agency.
Gen. Ashour Muftah was shot dead by masked militants while on way to work in al-Fatayeh district, the official said.
Abdel-Rauf Abdel-Magid, a former member of the Libyan military, was also gunned down by fighters in al-Kornish district in northern Darnah, the official added.
There was no comment from Libyan authorities.
Libyans have struggled to restore order to their country since the death of longstanding leader Muammar Gaddafi two years ago.
The transitional government and its security forces, meanwhile, have struggled to contain the armed militias that helped overthrow Gaddafi but which held onto their weapons after the 2011 uprising.Last Mod: 04 Şubat 2014, 09:46
