A United Arab Emirates (UAE) soldier was killed Saturday in war-torn Yemen as part of a Saudi-led military campaign against Houthi rebels, the country’s army command said.
The Armed Forces Command said the soldier died during operation “Restore Hope” with the Saudi-led Arab coalition defending legitimacy in Yemen, the official WAM news agency reported.
It, however, did not disclose the cause of the soldier's death.
The UAE is a member of the Saudi-led coalition that launched a massive air campaign in 2015 against Houthi rebels, who overrun the capital Sanaa and other provinces one year earlier.
Two rounds of UN-backed peace talks have failed to resolve the conflict in which thousands of Yemenis are believed to have been killed and an estimated three million forced to flee their homes.Güncelleme Tarihi: 05 Şubat 2017, 13:12
