UN Undersecretary-General for Political Affairs Jeffrey Feltman met Monday with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in capital Tehran to discuss over regional developments mainly in Syria, Egypt, and Lebanon.
Iran is determined to act in cooperation with UN, said Iranian FM stressing, "Iran has made use of all the opportunities to ensure peace, stability and security in the region, and will continue to do so."
Reiterating that the only way to solve Syrian crisis was dialogue, Zarif said Iran was ready to collaborate with UN for any political solution.
He warned against the "spread of the extremist groups" saying they would affect not only the region but also the other parts of the world including western countries. He also stressed that Iran was opposed to the use of chemical weapons no matter which country used it.
Feltman, on the other hand, said he expected that cooperation between Iran and UN would go on in fields of education, health, and counter terrorism and narcotics.Güncelleme Tarihi: 26 Ağustos 2013, 22:55
