Palestinian journalists on Tuesday thanked Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan for supporting journalists in the blockaded Gaza Strip against Israeli violations.

In a statement, a grouping of Gaza journalists praised Erdogan's condemnation of the Israeli killing of ten journalists in Gaza.

It also lauded the Turkish premier's position on the Palestinian cause.

"Sorry to say Arab leaders came short of adopting a similar noble position," said the grouping.

Erdogan had earlier lambasted international silence at Israeli violations against journalists.

The Israeli army had killed ten media workers and journalists during its 30-day offensive on the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli government and Palestinian factions have endorsed an Egyptian proposal for a three-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip starting Tuesday.

Israel has since completely withdrawn its forces from the besieged Palestinian territory.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, at least 1867 Palestinians, mostly civilians, were killed and 9470 wounded in unrelenting Israeli attacks since July 7.

The Israeli army, for its part, has confirmed the killing of 64 troops and the injury of 651 others in Gaza combat operations, while three civilians were killed in rocket attacks on Israeli cities.
