Israeli forces accompanied by bulldozers on Monday demolished a Palestinian home near the northern West Bank city of Tulkarm, a local official has said.

"Israeli troops stormed Al-Jaroushiyya village and demolished a two-story house owned by Kefah al-Shouli on the pretext that the building had been built without a permit," local council head Rafaat Ahed told.

According to Ahed, al-Shouli never received a demolition notice from the Israeli authorities.

Al-Jaroushiyya falls within "Area C," which covers nearly two thirds of the West Bank and remains under full Israeli civil and security control as stipulated by the Oslo II Accord, which was signed in 1995 between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

Palestinians in Area C say the Israeli authorities typically prevent them from erecting structures in the area on grounds that the land falls under Israeli administration.
