Israel frees Palestinian leader Salah on bail after Gaza aid attack

Israel freed head of the Islamic Movement Sheikh Raed Salah and a delegation of Palestinian citizens of Israel under strict conditions of house arrest and large fines.

"Represented by the Israeli rights group Adalah, Muhammad Zidan, Hammad Abu De’abes, and Lubna Masarwa were all released on 150,000 shekels (30,000 US dollars) bail each, and orders that they remain in their homes for five days and not leave the country in the near future," Palestinian news agency said.

The four were aboard the Freedom Flotilla's cargo ship when it was attacked and overpowered by Israeli commandos, who shot and killed at least 9 activists.

Ships were dragged to shore at the Israeli port of Ashdod, where Salah and his delegation were detained.

Salah said, in court Thursday that soldiers had attempted to assassinate him. “They tried to kill me and shot at someone else they thought was me,” he said.
