Israeli army raids refugee camp; 3 killed- UPDATED

Israeli soldiers entered a refugee camp in Ramallah and opened fire on refugees, killing 3 people and injuring 10 others.

Director of the Medicine Complex in Ramallah Ahmad al-Bait Avi declared that three Palestinians, Jihad Aslan (19), Rubin Faris (32) and Jamal Cahjun, were killed and 10 others wounded during the Israeli raid into the Kalendia Refugee Camp located in the West Bank of Palestine.

A resident of the Kalendia Refugee Camp, Mohamed Mathir, spoke to an AA reporter and said, "Palestinians in the camp woke up to sounds of Israeli soldiers firing. Clashes occurred between Israeli soldiers and Palestinians."

Mathir also said that slain Rubin Faris died from a shot to his chest, adding that he had six children and had been detained at Israeli prisons for 3 years. He stated that Israeli soldiers opened fire on Palestinian children who hurled stones at them, causing a hitch in the transportation of medical teams.

Witnesses also stated that two Palestinian youngsters were detained during the raids on Palestinian houses.

Meanwhile, witnesses said that Israeli soldiers had wanted to carry out searches of houses in the area in order to find some Palestinians whom they were seeking when a clash occurred between the parties. They added that two Palestinians were killed as a result of Israeli soldiers opening fire on them.
