Israeli forces backed by bulldozers staged a limited incursion into the Gaza Strip on Wednesday morning from the strip's eastern border, eyewitnesses said.
"Six Israeli bulldozers and a number of artillery vehicles crossed the border fence and advanced around 150 meters into the Palestinian territory in the east of Gaza City while Israeli reconnaissance planes hovered overhead," an eyewitness said.
The Israeli bulldozers razed agricultural lands as Israeli forces opened fire in the direction of nearby houses, but no injuries were reported, eyewitnesses and medial sources said.
Israeli forces stage incursions into the Gaza Strip on an almost daily basis from the enclave's eastern and northern borders under the pretext of securing its frontier against any potential attacks from the territory.
Rocket fired into S. Israel from Gaza
A rocket was fired on Wednesday into uninhabited landscape in southern Israel from the Gaza Strip, Israeli radio reported.
The rocket left no casualties or damage, according to the report.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack thus far. Israeli authorities have yet to comment on the incident, but they normally hold Hamas resistance group, which rules the coastal enclave since 2007, for such attacks.
